All About the Bronte Sisters

Now Available

All About the Bronte Sisters by Carolyn Burns BassI am delighted to announce that my children’s biography, ALL ABOUT THE BRONTE SISTERS, is now available from Blue River Press. This little book was a pleasure to write and I’m excited to have an opportunity to share with school-age children the lifestories of these remarkable sisters. Charlotte, Emily and Anne Bronte originally published using male pseudonyms, and through the years their work has held-up as some of the most important fiction and poetry of the 19th century. Schools around the world continually include Charlotte’s JANE EYRE, Emily’s WUTHERING HEIGHTS, and Anne’s THE TENANT OF WILDFELL HALL, in their English Literature curriculum. Introduce your young readers to these fascinating women who defied gender expectations with their groundbreaking fiction and poetry.

“I’ve been a fan of Charlotte Bronte’s Jane Eyre for almost half a century, and a fan of the books by her sisters Emily and Anne for almost as long. But until reading All About the Bronte Sisters by Carolyn Burns Bass, I never knew so many fascinating details about their lives. This is a great intro to turn young readers into fans but also a great companion for young readers who are already fans. And the illustrations by Colleen Deignan really bring the story to life. Highly recommended.”

I traveled to Yorkshire in the UK to research ALL ABOUT THE BRONTE SISTERS, a perk of being a professional writer. Travel has been a passion of mine since I can remember. As a child I dreamed of visiting the far away places where all of my book friends lived, It wasn’t until I was grown that I put miles under those dreams, visiting such places as New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, where Claudia and her little brother ran away to in THE MIXED UP FILES OF MRS. BASIL E. FRANKWILER (E.L. Konigsburg); Paris of the Madeleine series, and the England of Anne Sewall’s BLACK BEAUTY. Writing and traveling became travel writing as I continued my journalism career. While I also write about travel and food for magazines and other media outlets, I funnel much of my travel writing into the website Go.Eat.Live
